Pirate Ship is a proper old-school adventure room with scale, character and enough puzzle content to justify the full 90 minutes. Extremescape has built a convincing nautical set that does the heavy lifting here, and the best version of the game is one where the atmosphere lands immediately and never really lets go. It feels broad, welcoming and made for teams who want a full evening out rather than a novelty stop.

The ship set is so convincing, you feel properly aboard from the start. That is the room’s real calling card: strong immersive dressing, a clear treasure-hunting premise and a pirate world that keeps the game feeling coherent even when the puzzle flow turns a little uneven. It is not a scare room, and it does not need to be. The appeal is adventure, not adrenaline.

Expect a puzzle-heavy experience with searching, observation, logic and plenty of traditional progression. This is a room that rewards communication, especially in bigger groups where it helps to split attention and compare findings. There is some tech in the mix, but it supports the theme rather than chasing spectacle, so players who enjoy a more handmade escape-room style should feel at home.

A few steps can feel start-stop or slightly ambiguous, and the more old-school structure will not suit everyone, especially if you prefer tightly linear flow or heavily modernised mechanisms. The room’s age shows in places, but not enough to erase its strengths.

As a result, Pirate Ship is easy to recommend to pirate fans, experienced teams and mixed groups that value immersion as much as solving. It is a well-regarded classic with real presence, and although later rooms at Extremescape may feel slicker, this remains a distinctive, content-rich build that still earns the trip.
