Alice

The Mind Factory Peterborough

A playful Wonderland VR escape room with a darker, stranger edge than a simple fairytale. It leans into fantasy, time distortion and cooperative puzzle-solving, but the format is clearly more VR-led than traditional escape room.

The Story

Wonderland, Rewired

Alice is a VR take on Wonderland that leans into fantasy, time distortion and cheerful absurdity without losing its edge. The premise is easy to grasp but rich enough to carry the whole experience: fix the Queen of Hearts’ spell, follow the White Rabbit and help untangle the Hatter’s frozen tea party. It has a clear identity from the first minute.

This is not a conventional physical escape room, and it should be judged on that basis. The format is cooperative, tightly bounded and more about shared problem-solving than rummaging through real-world props. That makes it best for a compact 2 to 3 player team, where communication matters and nobody gets drowned out by the format. One player summed up the trade-off neatly: “A clever VR twist, though it feels unlike a classic escape room.”

The puzzle side sounds strong, with a challenging difficulty level that should keep competent teams busy. Expect a guided sequence of themed tasks rather than free-roaming exploration, and some of the interaction will feel more screen-led than tactile. That is also where the room’s limits show, but the ideas themselves seem to land well: “The puzzle ideas land well, even when movement feels tightly constrained.”

Tonally, this is for players who want a playful, slightly surreal Wonderland rather than a straightforward fairytale. There are hints of unease in the setting, but not horror, and the mood stays on the inventive side of strange. It should suit anyone who wants magical atmosphere with a twist of disorientation.

The main caveat is simple. If you want a traditional escape room with room-scale movement, physical mechanisms and the usual hands-on feel, this may frustrate you. If you are happy to treat VR as the point rather than the compromise, Alice looks like a worthwhile, sharply themed challenge rather than a novelty to dismiss.

How It Compares

Alice is strongest as a themed VR puzzle experience rather than a traditional escape room. The Wonderland setting gives it clear personality and fantasy flair, while the hard difficulty and compact 2 to 3 player setup point to concentrated teamwork.
