A Discovery of Dragons goes straight for fantasy fans with a last-dragon-egg premise, a medieval mood, and enough Game of Thrones-style intrigue to give the hunt real purpose. This is not framed as a gentle introduction. Crack The Code call it their toughest room, and that sounds about right: the appeal here is challenge first, spectacle second.

The strongest thing about it is the idea. A dragon-egg quest is a cleaner, more inviting hook than the usual prison or heist setup, and the storyline gives the puzzles a clear destination. There are some genuinely nice moments in the mix, and one co-operative beat sounds particularly satisfying. As one player put it,

Great idea and a strong theme, but the room feels very linear. That is the key warning sign. The structure appears to be clue-led and sequential, with wooden puzzles, number padlocks and information split across different places, so the room rewards careful communication more than wide-open teamwork.

That also means group size matters. Larger teams may find they are waiting around, while smaller teams could still struggle if the logic gets slippery. This is best for experienced players who like traditional puzzle rooms and do not mind passing control from one step to the next rather than working in parallel.

There are a couple of practical caveats. The clue system sounds basic rather than polished, and puzzle clarity may not always be generous. Younger children may also find some of the challenges confusing. Taken on its own terms, though, this looks like a worthwhile fantasy room for seasoned teams who want a tough, story-led challenge rather than a flashy set piece.
